Why Hello!

Now that Gabe is EXCELLENT at rolling over he will get onto his stomach and look out into the bedroom. So now we will look over at his bed and this is what we see. Two big blue eyes watching us...creepy.

A "Zoo-per" Ending To a Great Weekend!

Today we woke up a little late and missed church. So instead, we decided to go to the zoo since it was such a beautiful day. We got lucky because it was the perfect mixture of cool breeze and sunshine. And the animals at the zoo seemed to like it too-they were all very active.

We had a great weekend with the kids. And of course, we talked a lot about next weekend when we make the EIGHT HOUR drive to Montana to spend Easter with Ryan's family. Ryan's brother has never met Gabe, Linda hasn't seen him since Thanksgiving, and Scott hasn't seen him since he was about 4 weeks old. I can only hope they are as excited to see us as we are to see them. MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL!

Parks & Rec

Today we went to Veterans Memorial Park in West Jordan. It was the nicest day we have had so far this year and we decided to take the kids to the park. The playground at this park is the most amazing park and Sera loves it so much. There is so much for her to play with and she runs until she drops.

I tooks lots of pictures and these are some of my favorites. This is one of Ryan pushing Gabe in the swing.

And Ryan was kind enough to snap this one of Gabe and I. I think Ryan and I were having more fun with the swing than Gabe was. He just seemed cold and would occasionally crack a tiny smile because we were dancing around like idiots trying to entertain him.

And here is a close up of Gabe-zilla having his first ride in a swing.

And finally this is such an AMAZING picture of Sera! I wish I could take the credit but Ryan was the one to get this. And it was hard because when Sera knows she is on camera she will act cheesey and silly. So he spent quite some time secretly snapping pictures and caught her here having so much fun! And honestly, this is one of my most favorite pictures of Sera EVER!

It was such a nice day and I am glad the weather is starting to get better so that we can have more days just like this.

A Review

This week has been such a busy week. Both Ryan and Gabe were sick and so I was busy taking care of them. And yes, both are better now. I am not going to write much here because honestly, other than 2 sick boys, nothing too exciting has really happened.

This first picture is from yesterday when we gave Gabe his first bath in the kitchen sink. The first time he splashed the water with his hand he stopped, looked at his hand, and started to splash all the water from the sink. The floor was one GIANT puddle by the time we finished the bath.

This one shows just how flexible this little man is. And he loves eating his feet. I am not sure why babies love this but I am sure glad that they do because it makes for adorable pictures!!!

And finally this picture shows just how good Gabe is at sitting up. We have been really working with him so that by the time we headed to Montana for Easter he would be able to sit up on his own. This picture makes me oh so proud of him!

BEEF! It's What's For Dinner!

Don't worry! We were being really careful about any chunks that he might accidentally swallow. And we only let him drink about a half a beer and it was LIGHT BEER! Too many carbs make him gassy.

Suckiest Bunch of Sucks That Ever Sucked

Notice anything about Gabe's right eye? Does it looks a little puffy or PINK to you? IT DOES?!?! Well that must mean Gabe got Pink Eye. And the title of this post represents how I feel about the last few days I have spent taking care of my sick baby boy. So now you know why I have not posted almost all this week. Gabe got sick on Wednesday afternoon at daycare and by the time I got home from work, he was sitting on the couch with his Dad and his right eye was almost swollen shut. Funny thing was he was still smiling and laughing.

So Thursday Ryan stayed home with him and took him to the doctor where he was given this gel that we have to rub into his eye. Let me tell you how much he doesn't love that. He screams and jerks his head like he just licked an electrical outlet.

And his mood only got worse over the next couple days. Friday my Mom and sister helped me out by watching him while I went to work for a few hours. But the rest of the night he was cranky and miserable. Saturday was just more of the same. I know he is also teething and so this does not help his mood any. I will say this though, my Little Bird will always feel well enough to eat no matter how poorly he feels.

Today has been much better though. His eye is still a little goopy but his mood has improved so much. He is still pretty sleepy and gets a little fussy as well but I can tell he is feeling better. This is good because if he hadn't stopped crying soon I was going to give him to the Goblin King. (JUST KIDDING!)

Smells Fresh

Feeling fresh and clean Gabe decided to eat his foot and look really cute while doing it.

Pit Stop

If only Gabe would remember where he parked his Ferrari he wouldn't have to eat his keys. Also he wishes he could see over the steering wheel.

Geometry Is Not Her Strongest Subject

Last night Ryan picked up Sera for our weekend. When they got home, Gabe, myself, and my sister Becca were already here at the house. Sera loves Becca because as I have mentioned before, Becca will do all sorts of fun stuff with her that often leads to mischief. Last night they decided to use the big foam blocks to build towers up around Gabe so that he could knock them down. They did this by Sera looking at a picture and then directing Becca on where to place certain blocks. Becca, always looking to sneak learning in where she can, was asking Sera what shapes all the blocks were. Green square...CHECK. Purple triangle...CHECK. Polka dot triacticle....wait what? Folks, you heard me right. Sera was trying to remember the word rectangle and instead came out with triacticle. Personally, I like it much better than the world rectangle but oh well.

After building block time was over "someone" started throwing blocks (NO! NOT ME) and one thing led to another and Sera ended up getting pegged in the face by a not-so-soft red bridge looking thing. Ryan tends not to know his own strength and while trying to play, instead smacked Sera in the face with a block. Sera didn't cry and there was no mark, I think it startled her more than anything. And I will be honest that it was all Bec and I could do not to burst out laughing.

We also had dinner and played one game of Killer Bunnies. After all that Becca headed home and I read Sera a very long book about kangaroos. Fun fact: kangaroos cannot go backwards because their tails are too long.

It was a great night with the family. Ryan was really tired and didn't feel up to going out anywhere and now I am okay with that. It was such a quiet but fun night at home with my family. But in hindsight maybe instead of reading a book about kangaroos we should have read one about shapes...triacticle...

Totally Accurate

Shortly after this was taken he realized he was lying in bed which the absolute worst place he could have been at that moment. So he started screaming and screaming and SCREAMING until my brain exploded and I died. The End

His Cup Runneth Over

This picture was taken last night as we were getting ready for bed but he looks so sweet that I want to put it up today. And do you see how he is holding himself up? Does this look like he is getting ready to crawl? HOLY HEART ATTACK!!

And tonight as he was sitting in his swing he kept reaching for the little owls that hang above him. It is funny because he gets mad when he can't reach them. And do you see the BUCKETS OF DROOL that this baby is producing? I mean look at the boy's shirt! He is a fountain of drool...yay for me who ends up with drool on my clothes, on my hands, in my hair, and yes Internet...sometimes in my mouth. I know...T-M-I.

Minty Fresh

This was Gabe's first taste of a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie and as you can see he was experiencing a sugar-high euphoria. He had no idea it could get better that rice cereal and pears.

Tastes Like...

Please excuse his snotty nose in this picture. This rattle is simple but it has become one of his favorites. Which just goes to show you, simple things truly make babies very happy. And this is good for me because I am pretty simple and he thinks I am a blast.

Gabrielle

This is Gabe's twin Gabrielle. She is much angrier than Gabe and is very picky. She likes expensive dinners, trips to France, and tiny purse-sized dogs. Her "work" also cost her a FORTUNE!

P.S. For those of you who are interested, Gabe had his 6 month doctor's appointment today. He weighs 19 pounds 9 ounces which puts him into the 81% for his weight. And he is 28 & 1/2 inches tall which puts him into...get ready for this Internet...the 96% for his height! Can I get a woot woot?

ZOMBIE BABY!!!!!!!!!

For my first post it was only appropriate for a zombie baby picture. Gabe is gnawing on my forehead and is happy as can be about it. He continues to grow and change every day. It is really quite amazing to see how far he has progressed. That is all for now I look forward to posting more in the future.

Gone Fishin

Gabe isn't smiling in this picture because he really does love this fish but because Ryan was sitting next to me making him laugh. But then again, Ryan is always making all of us laugh-it's why we keep him around.

6 Months

HAPPY 6 MONTH BIRTHDAY!!!

Happy 6th Month of life Bubba! You are turning into such a big boy. As each month slips by your Dad and I are so pleased with everything you are becoming. And with this past month your "little" personality has really begun to shine. I mean just look at this picture-I was trying to get your 6 month picture and you thought it would be more fun to mess with my tape measure. And you look so cute that I decided to just leave the picture like it is.

You are interested in so many things. And you stay focused on the things you want. If you see something that you want to chew on, you keep on trying until you either get whatever it is (my hair, a cell phone, a pen, car keys, wash cloth, ect) or we have to completely seperate you from the object before you'll forget.

You are working so hard on sitting up. I know you are on the verge of being able to really sit on your own. Right now you can hang in there and sit for a couple minutes but we have to stay right by you because if we don't and you tip, you may face plant into the carpet and let me tell you, YOU GET PISSED!

You also are very particular about what you want to eat and from whom you want to eat. There are times you only want me and then the next time, you'll scream until your Dad bottle-feeds you. And you also love your baby food. You loves almost all things with the exception of squash-you still don't like squash. But you love all types of fruit, sweet potatoes, carrots, and most of the "fancy" dinners like "Chicken with Rice" or "Turkey and Sweet Potatoes" or my personal favorite "Ham with Pineapple and Rice." I wonder if you will always be such a good eater and if you are as good of a kid as you have been as a baby, all signs point to yes.

Your interest in the world around you has just EXPLODED! You are always checking things out, reaching out and grabbing things, licking things (Yes, licking.), and absorbing all that is around you. Part of your curiousity has shown itself by you looking towards the sounds you hear. We can say your name or make a funny noise you will turn you head to see what it going on. It makes us smile and we like to think that you are starting to know your name a little.

You love playing with your sister Sera. She will dance and sing for you and you just giggle and smile. You love our dog Freya and think it is funny when she licks your face. You like playing peek-a-boo when we sneak up and say "HI!" You are crazy about your exer-saucer and your foam blocks. And you smile when ever you see your Dad and I after you have been at daycare all day.

You are also starting to teeth and so you are often crabby in the evenings. It can sometimes be hard on your Dad and I because we are used to you always being so smiley and happy. But it is just one more step in you growing up, so we understand. But I will be honest when I say I can't wait until it is over.

But no matter how cranky you get Bubs, we will always love you unconditionally. It is hard for me to believe that you are really six months old but as I look back at this blog and see everything you have done, I can only be excited for what will come next. Thank you for making these past 6 months the BEST 6 months of my life Gabriel Scott. I love you very much and hope your next 6 months are just as amazing as the first.
